In the previous two installments of our “Who Makes Up VUMZ Group” series, we introduced the company’s founder, Mr. Róbert Procházka, and the Business Director, Mr. Milan Slašťan. Both play key roles in the direction and success of our company.
In the third part, we are excited to introduce Martin Procházka, Head of Technology at VUMZ.SK.
His expertise and precision play an irreplaceable role in the development and implementation of our projects. Martin is an integral part of our team, and his contribution is crucial to ensuring the quality and innovations that set VUMZ.SK apart in the market.
1. Could you briefly describe your early career steps? What decision in your career helped you move forward the most, and why? After completing my high school studies at a mechanical engineering school, I started my career in the Nitra engineering plant. Later, I gained experience in an aviation factory in the Czech Republic. Then came an offer that changed my direction— joining the VUMZ.SK team and helping launch the company. It was a challenge that I gladly accepted. 2. How did you get to work at VUMZ, and what role do you hold within the company? I joined VUMZ.SK in 2006 at the recommendation of my father and brother, who brought me here. It was here that I was able to fully apply the skills and experience I had gained in previous positions. Today, I work as the Head Technologist and also handle processing calculations. I’m grateful for the opportunity to constantly develop and for the new challenges that keep pushing me forward. 3. What does a typical workday look like for you, and how do you organize your duties? My day starts at five in the morning when I wake up. I live just ten minutes away from work, which I consider a huge advantage—I drive in the winter and bike in the summer. When I arrive at the company, I unlock the building, make coffee, and check my emails. At six o’clock, I meet with the production manager and the team to distribute tasks. If we’re starting a new project, I focus on processing the technology, printing drawings, and ordering the necessary materials. 4. What technologies or tools help you the most in your daily work? My computer. It may sound basic, but it is my indispensable work tool. 5. How do you try to balance work and private life? I spend my free time with my family, and we try to enjoy it actively. We go on various trips together and enjoy our shared activities. 6. What do you like to do most when you want to completely clear your head? I love cycling— it’s during cycling that I truly clear my mind. If I have more time, I also enjoy hiking. I deeply appreciate the support of my wife, who always encourages me in these activities. 7. What does your ideal day look like? For me, an ideal day means not having to deal with work matters and being able to fully focus on my favorite activities, ideally with my wife. 8. Do you have any dreams or goals that you would still like to fulfill in your personal life? I would love to cycle across all of Slovakia and, one day, sail on a large sailboat across the sea. 9. If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Follow your dreams!
